VIP special event: 4.30 - 5.30 pm
Where: The conference room at Grand Palais, 3 Avenue du Général Eisenhower, 75008 Paris
The event includes a curator talk between the five curators of the exhibition, a book launch of Crafting Exhibitions and a launch of the Nordic issue of the magazine Kunsthåndverk. After the launch we invite you to the Nordic Craft Pavilion for a refreshments and guided tour of the exhibition and the Revelations Banquet.
The curator talk:
In the show magic language /// game of whispers at the Nordic Pavilion at Revelations, Marianne Zamecznik has developed a curatorial method which emphasizes the agency of the objects themselves and redefines the role of the curator. Zamecznik states that “the objects themselves travel and “select” their counterparts with the help of the curator-as-translator” and has involved four other Nordic curators.
Taking the exhibition as starting point a panel with all five curators will discuss this particular form of selecting works and experiences they had with working with this exhibitions. Further the discussion will touch upon how objects may inform exhibition making, and how curators may work to facilitate meaningful constellations of objects based on the objects own “needs”.
The panel: Katrine Borup (DK), Agnieszka Knap (SE), Anna Leoniak (IS), Katarina Siltavuori (FI) and Marianne Zamecznik (NO).
Moderator: André Gali, editor-in-chief of Norwegian Crafts Magazine and the book-series Documents on Contemporary Crafts.
